FROM FLOOD TO BIG RIVER
From Flood to Big River is a graphic novel inspired by my grandparents’ childhoods growing up in Taiwan during Japanese colonial rule and WWII.
I wanted to explore what daily life was like for Taiwanese families who were educated under Japanese rule, using my grandmother’s perspective to keep the story personal and grounded.
Ultimately, this project is about understanding the history of where we come from and encouraging people to talk to their elders about their own family stories. Alongside the book, I also created three promotional posters.
